Biography

Karen was born in Dublin and graduated from the Samuel Beckett Centre in TCD. Theatre work for the Abbey and Peacock theatres includes; Beauty in a Broken Place, Doldrum Bay,Love in the Title (Abbey and international tour, for which she won the ESB/Irish Times Best Actress Award), Cuirt an Mhean Oiche (Peacock and National tour), Judas of the Gallarus (Peacock), The Rivals (Abbey), Tarry Flynn (Abbey and Royal National Theatre), The Marriage of Figaro (Abbey), The Well Of The Saints (Abbey and Edinburgh tour), Good Evening Mr.Collins (Peacock and National Tour) and The Crucible (Abbey). Karen has worked with theatre companies across Ireland in productions which include; Thesis(Guna Nua Theatre Company) Kvetch (Kilkenny Arts Festival), How I Learned To Drive (Lyric Belfast), The Cherry Orchard, A Month in the Country and The Seagull (Gate), Silas Marner (Storytellers), To (Bickerstaffe), The Ashfire(Pigsback) and international tours with the English Shakespeare Company in The Winter?s Tale and Coriolanus. For Guna Nua, Karen appeared in The Importance of Being Earnest (Civic Theatre, Tallaght), Taste at Andrews Lane Theatre and most recently I Pyrenees and Dream of Autumn at the Project Arts Centre. Pro Film and Television includes: Evelyn, Sinners (BBC/RTE), Fergus?s Wedding (RTE), The Long Way Home, This Is My Father, Ballykissangel (BBC/RTE), Glenroe (RTE) and Nighthawks (RTE). Karen has also appeared in numerous RTE and BBC radio drama productions including; Crazy Dog Audio (RTE), The Monotonous Life of Little Miss P (BBCNI), Three Sisters (RTE), Gone But Forgotten (RTE), Parachutes (BBCNI), I Do Not Like Thee Dr. Fell (RTE) and Gerry Stembridge's Daisy The Cow Who Talked (RTE). Karen recently appeared in Dream of Autumn, with the Rough Magic Theatre Company.
Karen most recently appeared in an acclaimed performance as Helene in 84 Charing Cross Road at Andrews Lane Theatre directed by Terry Byrne for Lane Productions. She has just completed filming on the feature film Daisy Chain for Subotica Films in Ireland and Wales.
